[Return to Fine Art] Old Spanish California
California belonged to the Spanish prior to the takeover by Mexico when they declared their independence and these are some of the most beautiful scenes of times gone by. I love the beauty of Old California and hope you do, too. Note: all paintings sold without frames!

| #606 "Heading for a Wedding"
20"x24"
Weddings in Old Spanish California were joyous occasions which attracted both New World nobility and peasant alike. The drinking and gorging, and the singing and dancing might last an entire week before the piety of Sunday put an end to it. Come, let's join the party!

| #720 San Juan Bautista 1890
20 " x 30"
San Juan Bautista is not far from the Salinas of John Steinbeck and well worth the drive. I enjoy wandering the narrow streets of these delightfully small towns, and it was not long before the charcoal in my fingers began to move imbued with a life of its own. Take a look; you might want to stay longer! E-mail Beverly for more information and pricing. Catalog #: #720

| #659 "Juanita's Wedding"
20"x30" Juanita's Wedding was influenced by a wedding I attended on a ranch in Monterey County, held beneath a huge oak tree. The wedding party arrived in horse-drawn carriages. Not only was the ceremony beautiful, it served as a conduit into rich past of old, Spanish and later Mexican California.
